Researchers working across all areas of applied research on memory and cognition are invited to submit their work for consideration at SARMAC 2027.
Submit an individual abstract for consideration as a spoken presentation or poster, or propose a 75-minute symposium featuring four to six presentations and a discussant.

Symposium Proposal Guidelines
Submission Guidelines
SARMAC welcomes symposium submissions in all areas of applied research on memory and cognition for the SARMAC 2027 Conference.
Researchers interested in proposing a symposium for SARMAC 2027 are invited to submit a proposal. Proposals should identify a clear and timely theme that brings together complementary research of interest to SARMAC attendees.
The Program Committee will review all symposium proposals and determine which will be included in the SARMAC 2027 Conference. The Symposium Chair will be notified of the decision and will be responsible for informing the participating speakers.
The Program Committee will schedule accepted symposia within the scientific program. Individual requests regarding scheduling cannot be accommodated.
Presenting Author Limits
A person may be the presenting author on a maximum of two spoken presentations and two poster presentations, provided that each presentation is based on a different abstract.
The two spoken presentations may consist of:
- One stand-alone spoken presentation and one presentation within a symposium
- Two presentations within symposia
- Two stand-alone spoken presentations
In addition, a person may be the presenting author on a maximum of two poster presentations.
Please do not submit the same abstract as both a presentation within a symposium and a separate stand-alone spoken presentation.
When submitting an individual abstract that is part of a proposed symposium, presenting authors may indicate whether they would like the abstract to be considered for a stand-alone oral presentation and/or poster presentation if the symposium is not accepted.
Symposium Format
Each symposium will be 75 minutes in length and must include no fewer than four and no more than six presenters.
A symposium may also include a discussant.
The Symposium Chair will submit one symposium proposal through the Symposium Submission Portal. The proposal must include:
- Symposium title
- Symposium description
- Symposium Chair information
- Name and contact information for each proposed speaker
- Presentation title for each proposed speaker
- Discussant name and affiliation, if applicable
The Symposium Chair does not submit the individual speaker abstracts through the Symposium Submission Portal.
Each proposed speaker must submit their own abstract separately through the regular SARMAC 2027 Abstract Submission Portal.
Individual Speaker Abstracts
Each proposed symposium speaker must submit their individual presentation abstract through the regular SARMAC 2027 Abstract Submission Portal.
On the Additional Information page, speakers should:
- Check the box indicating that their presentation is part of a proposed symposium
- Provide the name of the Symposium Chair
- Indicate whether they would like their abstract to be considered for a stand-alone oral presentation if the symposium is not accepted
- Indicate whether they would like their abstract to be considered for a poster presentation if the symposium is not accepted
The information provided by the Symposium Chair will be used to link each individual speaker abstract to the appropriate symposium proposal.
Selection Priorities
Priority will be given to symposium proposals that:
- Present a clear, cohesive, and timely topic relevant to applied memory and cognition
- Demonstrate a clear connection among the included presentations
- Include four to six distinct presentations that contribute to a coherent symposium theme
Submission Requirements
The Symposium Chair must submit the symposium proposal.
You will need the following information to complete the proposal:
- Symposium title – maximum 20 words
- Symposium description – maximum 200 words outlining the proposed topic, scope, and objectives
- Symposium Chair name, affiliation, and contact information
- Name, affiliation, and contact information for each proposed speaker
- Presentation title for each proposed speaker – maximum 20 words
- Discussant name and affiliation, if applicable
Individual presentation abstracts, authors, and other abstract-specific information will be submitted separately by each speaker through the regular Abstract Submission Portal.

Please proofread the complete symposium proposal carefully before submitting.
Once the proposal has been submitted, a system-generated confirmation email will be sent to the email address provided by the submitter.
If you do not receive the confirmation email, please check your junk or spam folder before contacting the SARMAC 2027 Program Manager at sarmac2027-program@icsevents.com.
Please remember that each proposed speaker must also submit their individual abstract separately through the regular SARMAC 2027 Abstract Submission Portal.
Author Confirmation and Publication
- The Symposium Chair confirms that the information included in the symposium proposal is accurate.
- The Symposium Chair is responsible for ensuring that all proposed speakers are aware that they must submit their individual abstracts separately through the regular Abstract Submission Portal.
- Submission constitutes consent for an accepted symposium and its associated abstracts to be included in SARMAC 2027 conference materials, including the website, program, and abstract book.
- The Symposium Chair will receive correspondence regarding the symposium proposal and is responsible for communicating relevant information to the participating speakers.
- SARMAC 2027 may decline to review any proposal that does not comply with the submission guidelines.

If your presentation is part of a proposed symposium, please submit your abstract through this portal as usual.

- Abstracts should be written in plain English and prepared for pasting into the appropriate submission fields.
- Abstracts cannot be edited after final submission.
- Submitters will be asked to indicate their preferred presentation format: oral presentation or poster presentation.
- Submitters will also be asked whether they would consider a different presentation format if their preferred format is not available.
- The final presentation format and program placement will be determined by the SARMAC 2027 Program Committee.
